Google has a bunch of tools that are designed to make life easier for individuals and businesses. The company has evolved significantly from its humble days as a search engine designed to sift through the clutter of the internet. Google now has a pervasive presence throughout the digital world with an overarching goal of “Focus on the user and all else will follow”. Their self-driving car is an attestment to that fact and industry consultants predict that half of all cars will have this technology by the year 2040. Take a look for yourself:
Google Hangouts is a free instant messaging and video chat service similar to Skype and FaceTime. It also has many of the same capabilities as GoToMeeting. Users can conduct meetings with up to ten other people via any device – desktop, tablet, or mobile. For video, a feed of all users is displayed at the bottom of the screen with the current speaking user featured in the center of the main screen.
The application also has a number of tools that can assist with presentations, including screen share and remote desktop. These two features are extremely useful for visual communication and troubleshooting. Just click the tab and follow the instructions to allow another user to temporarily take control of your computer.
Google Hangouts is linked directly to Google Drive so you can organize and display multiple types of documents that may be required for a presentation.. It’s the perfect tool for quick and convenient collaboration.
All you need for Hangouts is a Google account, so if you have Gmail then you’re all set to go!
